GREASE EXTRACT SYSTEM DEEP CLEANING - TR19
What is it?
Accumulated grease within an extract system forms a hidden combustion load under certain circumstances. An electrical fault with the extractor fan or very high temperature within the duct can ignite the grease causing fire to spread rapidly throughout an entire building.
The cleaning of kitchen extract systems in commercial kitchens is a legal requirement and they must be cleaned to a specific standard (TR19) at least once a year depending on hours of operation & grease accumulations.
The Health & Safety Executive, along with insurance guidance stipulates that kitchen extract systems should be kept clean to minimise fire and other risks.
This means that in the event of a fire, the consequences of neglect can be severe as non-compliance will not only void insurance claims, but furthermore, any injury or death caused by such fires, falls under the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act (2007) which carries serious penalties.
Why Do It?
- Reduce Fire Risk
- Compliance with The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
- Validate Building Insurance
